The Thirty-Sixth Day

It's Sunday. This morning I was up at 830. I got up and washed some clothes and played guitar and ukulele. I debated about going to the Catholic Church here, but I still do not know if it is a "valid" church, and I also did not tell the African guys to knock on their way out.

I played guitar until about 12 when I got hungry and made toast and eggs downstairs. It was so good to cook a meal for myself. I came back to the room and ate my breakfast while watching a movie. I also munched down some more melon. I got an invite from the Bangladeshi family to come and make dinner with them today, so at about 300 I went down, and we started to cook. After 6 hours of being in the kitchen, we headed back up to their room and ate. Everything was very good except for the traditional drink that they introduced me to. It was a mixture of cilantro, spices, yogurt, chilies and other stuff. It was one of the most unappealing drinks that I had ever tasted. My favorite was the rice and the chicken legs that they taught me how to make along with the dessert.  Everything was awesome and it was great to learn about the foods that they cook and eat. We had a beef curry, a shrimp dish, a cow's heart dish, the rice, and some of the breads that they make.  I took pretty good notes on what was done and will be working on creating a recipe description to put on here with the photos. They made tortillas - flour tortillas. I was very surprised at that one. Eating was interesting as normally the host family does not eat until after the guests. I was the only guest so... I made Salma eat with me and the daughters. Misma was not in today. He showed up at the end of the meal. I ate quite a bit. They sent me back to the room with Tupperware full of food to eat for breakfast and snacks.

I stopped by the front desk and bought 100 units of electricity so I should not have to worry about that for a while which is good.  Nothing like your electricity being cut-off without warning.

I stopped by Ben's room as well to talk about the inefficiencies of the dorm system and about food that I had eaten tonight. He told me to look at a website on the BBC page about the cuisines around the world with recipes.  I came back to my room and almost immediately went back to Ben's room to get an antacid from him. The food had started to attack my system a little. It is very late so I am not going to type out recipes, but I will get them transcribed soon. I am going to download the photos from today - I know the blog is more interesting when I post pictures. I am too tired to caption them but I promise to follow up on this once I get the photos in order.

Good night and God Bless.
