The Thirty-ninth Day

I got a very good night of sleep last night  -  though it was not long enough. I got up at 710 and ate some yogurt and a plum. I need to go to the store and get some more fruits and yogurt here very soon, like tomorrow or tonight, I think. That might be difficult as I plan on going swimming tonight, perhaps with Silvio. I talked to Moo (a.k.a. Mom) which was good and then left for work at about 800.

At work this morning, I did not do too much. I emptied some flasks and then slept for a while before grabbing one of the papers that Yulan was reading. I began reading in between spurts of nodding off. At one point Wendy came over and started talking to me about music, then the NSA and then Japan. I do not know what he was trying to get me to agree to but it seems that Japan is building a military again even though they are not supposed to and China is scared. I told him that Japan is probably building a military because China's military is rather large and that the Japanese are scared. He said that the US, we, should control the Japanese and then started telling me about other things all of which I had no idea what the point of telling me was - guess he must think I am some political prodigy as well (not). After that I continued reading the paper and at about 1130 we went to lunch. It was good today, they had the tofu that I like and a chicken peanut stir fry dish that was also quite delicious.

I went back at 200 and then almost immediately went down to Ben's lab and talked with him for 2 hours. I do not know if I said this already but yesterday or the day before Yulan was trying to say "onions" but was saying "ocean" instead. She thought that she was saying "onions" though. It was very confusing as we were talking about what the Chinese normally put on the tortilla and so she was saying "oceans" which did not make any sense to say the least.

I went back up to the lab at 400 where I read another paper. They are very impressed with how fast I read the papers. Lili said that it takes her over a week to read one which seems crazy to me but then again English is not their first language. At 430 I left to go to the store where I got milk for the first time in a while, yogurt and some peaches. I will head out here soon to go to swim, but maybe I will see if Silvio would rather throw Frisbee. But we will see.

Silvio and I left here at about 540 and got there at about 610 where we were greeted by an enormous waiting line to get into the pool. I tried to show him the pool, but on the second floor, there is only a very foggy glass to look through. We ended up not swimming as the line was too long but now he knows where it is so he can get to it. We ended up going to the green area and started throwing the Frisbee with some Asians whom we got to join us. It was fun, but it may have been too much for Silvio's bad knee; he hurt it while playing soccer recently.  I told him about coming to play on Friday with the rest of the lab group. He said he might join us. He had been looking forward to swimming though so he may just go do that.
I played frisbee barefoot as I had flip flops on and was getting annoyed with them. Besides the grass felt nice on my feet although it was very, very dirty.

We will need to leave earlier to get to the pool.  I have never had a problem with a line of people when I leave at my usual time. After Frisbee we went and ate a restaurant. Silvio had the rice again, and I ordered some beef noodles which were pretty good. We would have eaten at the Sesh Wan place, but there were no tables outside, and we did not want to sit in the smoke! I also had some peanuts.

Back at the dorm we said hello to some of the people that Silvio knew, one of them being Ghana. Jay Jay was down there making salsa, Thai style. He leaves pretty soon to go and visit his family in Thailand. The salsa he made was spicier then last time but still not near as spicy as I thought that it would be. After that I headed back up to the dorm with my watermelon and said "see ya" to Silvio and then tried to return some stuff to the Bangladeshi family. They could not hear me knocking because of the design of their dorm room. Hopefully Salma will message me soon.

That's about it for today. Good night and God bless.
