I got up at at 600 and went for a run, came back and did abs. I will probably swim later today. I washed a shirt, talked to moo and padre. I then ate and headed to the lab. I need to not be so punctual as if I arrive at 800 there is no one there.
Lab work was pretty slim this morning. We autoclaved some stuff and then put it in the dryer. I also watched some of the work being done and washed some cuvettes with water and ethanol. The people in the lab asked a lot of questions about how girlfriends work in America - I did my best to explain, but I do not think that I got my point across (and I am such an expert, HA). We looked through some photos on my phone and I tried to explained the images to the them.
Lunch was good. I had tofu square stir fry, celery and meat stir fry, and rice. I really want some pizza! Tomorrow for lunch I may get on a train and go to Pizza Hut. I have 2 hours for lunch so that should be enough time. When I get home I want fresh bread, the Christmas cookies that we make, and pie. At least right now that is what I want. This food is good, but it all seems to taste the same.
I went back to work at 200 this afternoon and found it to be just as uninspiring as this morning. The people in the lab are not able to easily tell me what they are doing which makes it very frustrating at times. Pimpan was not there today so she could not help with translation. I watched them create primers and get samples ready for the PCR. I do understand how it works but I want to know why these things are being done. When they cannot tell me, I get very frustrated in my head and try not to let it show. I need to talk to Dr. Hongmei again here soon about the project that I have to complete for this internship.
After working, I left at 430 and went to the closest grocery store. I got yogurt, I think, and some type of bread then walked back to the dorm. I plan to go swimming today here at 600 to at least 700. Tomorrow I will probably not be able to get there as I will need to start getting ingredients together for my planned meal.
I should be able to walk to the nearest Pizza Hut - I may go there tomorrow (can't seem to take my mind off of having some American food).
I really miss home. I am going to try to swim some of this out of me.
It is amazing what an hour of swimming can do to my psyche. I just swam it pretty straight, stopped on the wall for maybe 5 minutes for the entire time. I swam, and it raised my spirits, made me happy, and felt good. It was a very wise decision to check on the availability of a pool and start swimming again. I am very glad that I went. I will plan on going as much as I can because even if it works about half as well as it did today, it will be worth it!
After swimming I walked back to the dorm, it is about 15-20 minute walk and knocked on Ben's door. He was in tonight, but he had already gone to dinner. I talked to him for a little while then I told him my plan for dinner, PB&J and eggs. He took me to the "yellow restaurant". We have no idea of the actual name, but the facade is yellow and hence the name. I had a chicken and noodle bowl that had peanuts and broth in it. It was very tasty. Over dinner, my dinner, he ordered a beer, we talked. It was awesome and very easy to order there. I will probably go there again for dinner. I am meeting him in the morn at 715 to go get breakfast. Ben is a soybean breeder from Virginia. He likes to bake as well. It was good to have someone to talk to.
Sorry about the negligence on my part for not taking photos, I was uninspired until tonight, and then I forgot to take them.
Lunch! the tofu was great
